Vulnerability and Adaptation to Climate Change in the Arctic

Before you Start:

• There are 3 options for completing the survey: online using a single submission form; online using a multiple submission form; or download, complete and return a hard copy of the survey by fax, email or regular mail. Decide which form is best for your needs. If your Internet connection is unreliable or expensive to use, you might want to simply download and print a hard copy of the survey to fax or email to the project coordinator, Birgit Njaastad (njaastad@npolar.no ). • Even if you only intend to make one submission, if you do not think you can complete the survey in one session, then use the multiple submission form (see below), save your work using the “save" button on the bottom left of the form, and return later to complete your submission.

• When using the multiple submission form, click on the “save" button on the bottom left corner of the form while making your submission so that you do not lose data. If your Internet connection is interrupted, or you are inactive on the site for more than 10 minutes you could lose data.

• Once a submission is “finalized" on the multiple submission form, it cannot be amended later. If you think that some information in a submission might need to be changed later, here are a couple of suggestions: a) use the multiple submission form and click on “save" at the end of the input while making a submission. Then return to the form later and make any changes before clicking on “finalize"; b) If a form has already been finalized, a user could make a new submission and indicate in the title that it is a revision which supercedes a previous submission; c) Another alternative is to simply send an email to the project coordinator Birgit Njaastad (njaastad@npolar.no ) with the amendments.

Taking the Survey:

Single Submission Form:

• You can only use this form once for any given email address, so you will need to complete the survey during a single session. If you think you will be interrupted or you want to make multiple submissions, use the Multiple Submission Form (see below).

• If you intend to answer the survey only once:
  Click Here for a single use Online Survey. To begin the survey, enter your email address and then click “Start".

Multiple Submission Form:

• Please read the “Before you Start" notes above.

• If you are not registered on the SDWG website, click “Register" and complete the contact information form. Then click on “register" at the top or bottom of the form to submit your contact information. You can then complete the survey. (Your user name and password will allow you to complete up to 150 submissions.)

• If you are already registered on the SDWG site, simply login using your email address and personal password. Then click on “New Submission" to begin.

• Click on a blue tab (labelled A to J) at the top of the form to view and complete the questions for that section. You do not need to complete the sections in order. You can even move back and forth among the sections; however, before changing sections, please click the "save" button in your current section to save the information you have already inserted there.

• Click on the Help (?) icon if you require more information about what is required for that particular section of the survey.

• You can go back and change information in any section during a session before finalizing your submission. Don't forget to click "save" in that section after you have made a change. You are not required to complete all sections.

• Note: To "Finalize" a submission you must include the title of the activity in section A and your name and contact information in Section J of the survey. Once a submission has been finalized you will not be able to make changes to it. An email notification will be sent to you automatically to say that your submission has been received.

• The next time you login to the multiple submission form you will be able to make a new submission.
